<p align="justify">Raymond H. Nelson, age 86, of Ashland, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012 at Birch Haven Senior Living in Ashland. He was born January 29, 1926 in Ashland, the son of Carl and Myrtle (Wilder) Nelson.</p>
<p>Ray graduated from Ashland High School in 1943. After high school, he worked on a Great Lakes ore boat as a stoker for a short time. Ray served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1945-1946. He then trained as an X-Ray Technician at the Deaconess Hospital in Milwaukee. Ray worked in Waukesha and Green Bay before going to work at the VA Hospital in Milwaukee, where he worked until his retirement in 1981.</p>
<p>In 2001, Ray moved home to Ashland. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and took several fishing trips to Canada. He is a member of the Saron Lutheran Church.</p>
<p>He is survived by a sister; Betty (Al) Rolerat of Neshkoro; a brother, Gerald (Joyce) Nelson of Germantown; 3 step-sisters; Kathreen (Duane) Schraufnagel of Andover, MN, Jacqueline (Richard) Mortenson of Coon Rapids, MN and Nancy King of Hoyt Lakes, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother; Julia Roguski, a brother; John “Ken” Nelson, a sister-in-law; Barbara Nelson; 2 nieces; Dawn Nelson and Christine Hagen; and a brother-in-law, Harold King.</p>
<p>A funeral service will held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at Saron Lutheran Church in Ashland with Pastor Paul Simmons officiating.</p>
<p>Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M &#8211; 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 24th at the Roberts Funeral Home in Ashland and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday . Interment will take place at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Ashland.</p>

<p align="center"><strong>Living Well with Chronic Conditions.</strong></p>
<p>Are you an adult with an ongoing health condition?  In a Living Well Workshop you’ll get the support you need, find practical ways to deal with pain and fatigue, discover better nutrition and exercise choices, and learn better ways to talk with your doctor and family abut your health.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>If you have conditions such as diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic pain, depression or anxiety, the Living Well workshop can help you take charge of your life. You will set your own goals and make a step-by -step plan to improve your health—and your life.  This course was developed by Stanford University. <p>This workshop will be held each week for 6 weeks, beginning on April 15. It will meet from 1:00 to 3:30 every Sunday afternoon at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  Facilitators will be Kathy Chesley and Esther Marie Pufall.</p>

<p>There is a $10.00 charge for the Living Well book.</p>

<p>Dorothea C. Lumberg, age 94, of Ashland, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Ashland Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 25, 1917, in Drummond, the daughter of Willis and Helma (Selvig) Wilhelm.</p>
<p>She attended Ondossagon School. On March 16, 1938, she married Roy F Lumberg, in Ashland. Dorothea worked as a cook and as a census taker at Ondossagon School. She worked for Splicewood, in Ashland and worked with the Election Board for the Town of Barksdale. She was a very active member of Saron Lutheran Church and many of the church’s organizations. She volunteered at MMC and was a member of the Homemakers, Sewing Club and a very active member of RSVP. Since her brother, Blaine, passed on the Edmund Fitzgerald, she spent many years travelling back to White Fish Bay to join other families in remembering their loved ones. She called Gordon Lightfoot a special friend. In her early years, she grew up in Big Bay, MI. Henry Ford used to buy her ice cream cones. In her later years, she was active in women’s swimming classes and was also a championship bean bag tosser at the nursing home.</p>
<p>She is survived by four children, Barbara (Bill) Tomlinson, Ashland, James (Judy) Lumberg, Ashland, Lois (Richard) Johnson, Kaukauna and Janice (Dale) Kupczyk, Ashland; a daughter-in-law, Carol Lumberg, Ashland; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (Tom) Secord, Ashland; a special friend, Lorraine Lindahl, Ashland; and numerous nieces and nephews.</p>
<p>She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; two sons, Gary and Arnold “Gus” Lumberg; a grandson, David; five brothers, Leonard, Frank, Blaine, Stanley and Bill Wilhelm; and two sisters, Jean Wilhelm and Marion Markeson.</p>
<p>A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, March 12, 2012, at Saron Lutheran Church, in Ashland, with Pastor Paul Simmons officiating.</p>
<p>Spring inurnment will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery, in Ashland.</p>
<p>Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Frost Home for Funerals, in Ashland and continue one hour prior to the service, on Monday, at Saron Lutheran Church, in Ashland.</p>

<p>Between February 22 and March 3, 2012, a deadly series of storms raced<br />
across the Midwest and the South, spawning at least 64 violent tornadoes<br />
that killed more than 50 people and injured many more in 14 states.<br />
Hundreds of homes, farms and businesses were damaged or destroyed during<br />
the outbreak.  </p>
<p>Currently, ELCA Disaster Response and ELCA congregations are providing<br />
spiritual care, coordinating volunteer response through local partner<br />
agencies and laying the groundwork for further response as communities<br />
repair and rebuild. No ELCA congregations have reported severe damage.  </p>
