Just like upkeep on a house, there are always projects that need to be done at Saron, minor repairs and maintenance. We are looking for some handymen that are willing to come in on the first Thursday morning of the month at 10:00 for an hour or so. We'll have the coffee on and a list of tasks that need to be done.
The Property Committee is looking for a volunteer to plow the parking lot this winter. Or if you can’t plow but would like to help out with the cost of plowing that would be wonderful to. If you can help in anyway please call the church office at 682-2376.
Donate your old cell phones now to make a difference! Over 130 million cell phones and PDS’s will be retired this year in the US, but fewer than 10% are likely to be recycled? Some can be fixed up and reprogrammed as 911 phones for use by domestic violence survivors, the elderly and others at risk. Materials from broken and obsolete phones and accessories can be reclaimed and used to create other things. There will be a box in the narthex for you to bring your old cell phones and accessories to be recycled.
We are updating our “Prayer Chain”. What is a “Prayer Chain”? Well, first the church is informed of a request for prayers for someone in need, and then the first person on our “Prayer Chain” list is called informing them of the prayer request. The first person calls the second person on the list and then so on and so on. If you are interested in being on our “Prayer Chain” list please call the church office 682-2376. If you were on the list before and still want to be on the list please the call the church office.

There is an opening on the Saron church council for someone interested in participating in the general oversight of the life and activities of the congregation. This position includes monthly council meetings as well as some committee involvement. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to get more involved in Saron, to learn, to grow and to positively affect the future of our church. It is the council's hope that we will have a complete 9 member council when our new pastor begins. If you wish to be considered for this exciting and challenging opportunity, please contact Liz Seefeldt or anyone in the church office.
Saron is in need of a church treasurer. According to our by-laws, the treasurer shall be responsible for all accounting records of the church including contributions. The treasurer shall make written reports of financial transactions to the finance committee and the church council monthly. The treasurer will insure timely dispersement of these funds to meet all church obligations. Remember, we do have Wendy as our bookkeeper and she provides all of this information to the treasurer. The treasurer is an officer of the congregation and is part of the executive committee, as well as an ex-officio member of the finance committee. We are looking for a positive, forward thinking individual who enjoys working with numbers and finances. If you wish to be considered for this position, please contact Liz or anyone in the church office.
Do you have any broken gold chains or kinked necklaces? Maybe, one gold earring because the other is lost? We are collecting 10, 14 & 24kt. gold jewelry pieces that you can no longer use (white or yellow gold). They will be sold to a gold dealer for cash for Saron’s General Fund. Gold prices are at a high so this is a great time to clean out our jewelry boxes! Please put any jewelry in the specially marked box in the church office. Thanks!! Evangelism Committee Needs VolunteersThe evangelism committee is in need of volunteers to send out birthday cards, get well cards, notes to visitors and shut-ins. We also need someone to help write articles for the newsletter and notes to church members. If you are willing to volunteer a few hours a month to these projects please contact the church office for contact information (715-682-2376).
Almost every day, someone comes to the church looking for food, or calls for help of some kind. The Social Ministry committee wants to emphasize the need for food in our area. The third Sunday of each month will be designated as Food Sunday. We are asking everyone to bring non-perishable food items & cleaning supplies on that Sunday and place them in the baskets as you enter the sanctuary. (If you bring food on another day you will find the baskets in the narthex by the coatroom.) A portion of the food donations will go to the BRICK and the remainder will be distributed from the church when people come to our doors. Please take the time to help out someone who is hungry. Looking for a place to help out? Try Circle of GraceCircle of Grace is an alternate worship service for persons with chronic mental illness and their families. Alter Guild Flowers or Candles A huge thank you to all that have ordered flowers and the Sanctuary lamp candle over the past year. We are making some changes, starting January 1, 2009 anyone interested in purchasing altar flowers will need to contact the florist of your choice, pay the florist and have the order delivered to the church on the Friday before. We are trying to be more efficient with our staffs’ time and this will help tremendously. You will still need to sign-up on the Flower Calendar in the narthex but then order the flowers yourself from whatever florist & whatever size bouquet you want. You also may sponsor the Sanctuary Lamp for $10.00 per Sunday which is handled through the church office.

Circle of Grace is a worship service and a meal every 2nd and last Thursday of the month at 5:00p. Please consider being a volunteer or cooking at this joyful worship time. You will receive much more than you give.
How interesting that our Lord commands us to praise Him, but also tells us it is good to sing our praises and that it will be pleasant to do so. It just plain feels good, the Scripture says. Have you ever felt that inner joy, a moment outside yourself, a "goose-bumps" experience? It's a moment of losing ourselves, of selflessness, that is fitting and a very pleasant thing. Maybe you'll find a way to "lose" yourself in the music this year at Saron. Opportunities are with the Saron Choir, the Hand Bells, The Glory Singers or special vocal or instrument music.
