The congregation votes on the
call committees recommendation.
The call committee
has received names of Pastors interested in coming to Saron.
They have completed initial phone interviews and one face to
face interview and will be doing a second face to face interview
this month. We hope to have more to tell you all soon. |

Pastoral candidates' names will
be received and interviewed by the Call Committee. Pastor
Pat will assist with process. If interest exists, an
additional workshop on spiritual care.
The call committee

The Call Committee
is working on
the Congregational Profile; will share it with the congregation
at adult forum and in newsletter.
Our Congregational profile was sent to Pastor Todd Iverson at
the Synod office and now we wait to receive names of Pastors who
are interested in coming to Ashland. We hope to receive three
names and conduct interviews during August. We hope to be able
to call a congregational meeting in early September to get
approval from the congregation to call a Pastor. It still may
take one to two months before the new Pastor could come as
he/she has time to decide and then must give his current Church
notice. So hopefully we will have a new Pastor by November. |

The church council will select a
6 member Call Committee from responsible members who have also
participated in both the Healthy Congregation's workshops and
the Strategic Planning events.
The
call committee has met four times already. Two of our meetings
have been with the Bishop’s Assistant Pastor Todd Iverson. We
are working on the Congregational Profile. A rough draft was
reviewed Monday evening. |
| March
2008 |
Church staff will
work on a behavioral covenant for themselves; Church council
will begin work on a behavioral as a group. Engage approximately
60 members in a series of 2 Strategic Planning Events; 6 year
plan.
We will begin on this
project sometime in February.
We met with the
Bishop's Assistant Pastor and had a great group. council
members went to a leadership workshop, On April 15th we
will be doing Healthy Leaders training. We are scheduling
2 Strategic Planning events for congregational members to be a
part of on April 20th & April 23rd. Our executive
team will be picking the Call Committee. Goal: a diverse
dream team, who will represent the whole community and with
prayerful reflection begin the process of finding a new shepherd
for Saron |

Engage 30
members/leaders (made up of elected leaders as well as other
leaders who are investing of themselves in carrying forward the
ministries of Saron) in 2-3 Healthy congregations workshops.
We have a "Training
Healthy Leaders" Workshop on February 19th here at Saron.
Also, a Council Leadership Training in Hayward on March 15th. |

Have membership rolls
done, start Project Newsletter/e-mail/webpage.
We are almost
finished with a master list of all possible members and then we
will be contacting the members that we haven't seen in a long
time or have moved away to see if they still consider Saron
their home.
The Saronews has
been e-mailed to some members and the webpage is up and going. |

Slow down to
encourage all members to healthfully celebrate Christmas and
holidays; recruit full participation in important Healthy
Congregations workshops and Strategic Planning Events scheduled
between February and April. |

Stewardship and gift
giving awareness month. Getting started on current
accurate membership project. |

Get all committees,
council chairs, leaders working on budget and awareness of
financial needs; put up Dreams for Saron sheets in coffee room;
Congregation meeting. |

Formal and informal
member processing of understanding and feelings related to
Pastor Jims resignation; make provisions for interim staffing
for all the fall start ups; create a "Transition Team"; put
interim/transition process timeline in October newsletter. |
