The Church Property Committee shall provide and maintain facilities for worship, education, fellowship, administration and other activities as well as maintaining equipment and supplies. This committee will be responsible for approving building use, protection, documents, keys, insurance and records. This committee will recruit and provide job descriptions for the custodial staff. The committee shall prepare and implement a maintenance schedule and do an annual assessment and recommendations regarding repair. They will maintain an inventory of church properties. The Evangelism Committee shall lead this congregation in witnessing to the gospel of Jesus Christ to people who are not active members of a Christian congregation and support the faith development of members and increase the active membership of this congregation. this committee will provide training in hospitality for greeters, ushers, and others in positions where they will regularly come into contact with guests. They shall provide a system of identifying, welcoming and obtaining the names and addresses of nonmembers who attend worship services of the congregation, provide follow-up contacts to thank them for participating, obtain feedback of their experience at worship and ascertain ways that the congregation might serve them further. They shall provide a system for making scheduled follow up contacts with people who are identified as potential members. They shall develop ways for the work of the congregation to be regularly advertised and promoted in the community. they shall educate, encourage and provide tools to help members invite friends, relatives an acquaintances to worship with them. The Fellowship Committee will direct and assist the congregation in providing fellowship opportunities which will enhance our community life together. This committee will be responsible for organizing activities that will promote interpersonal relationships between and among members of this congregation. Such activities may include kitchen crews, funeral lunch serving groups, singles groups, couples groups, bus trips and any event that bring people together. Council Members: Elizabeth S & Vicki G
The Finance Committee has the responsibility of the administration of the finances of the congregation and works closely with the Pastor, the church council, the church bookkeeper and the congregational treasurer. The council treasurer shall be an ex-officer of this committee. This committee shall prepare a draft budget for the succeeding year, including this congregation's full-indicated share in the support of the wider ministry being carried out in its behalf by the ELCA and the synod. This committee shall solicit reports of budget needs for the support of various congregational ministries from the church committees and groups. This draft budget shall be submitted to the church council for its action. The budget will be presented for congregational approval at the annual meeting. this committee shall review all the financial affairs of the congregation to make sure they are being conducted efficiently, giving particular attention to the prompt payment of all obligations and to the regular forwarding benevolence monies to the syndical treasurer. It shall be subject to the approval of the church council, be responsible for the congregation's special project investments, and shall also provide for annual audits of the accounts of the congregation, It shall annually review insurance policies and insure that those policies provide adequate repair and replacement coverage. They shall maintain an inventory of church properties with pictures for insurance purposes. Council Member: Linda P
The Health Ministries Committee will be committed to identifying and meeting the broader health care needs of the parish with a unique blend of spiritual, emotional and physical caring and expertise. This committee shall support and encourage the program staff in healing ministries, support and conduct health education throughout the congregation and community and participate in the congregational health network and support the work of the synod health cabinet. The Learning Ministries Committee will provide a lifelong program of Christian education that will enable members of all ages to learn the Scriptures and Lutheran teaching and apply them in their daily lives. This committee shall plan ongoing, regular educational experiences that will appeal to all segments of the congregation. They will coordinate recruitment of volunteer leaders and teachers for the congregation's educational program and provide ways for the congregation to recognize and thank the people who teach and lead in the education program. They will give special attention to the educational programs that support faith development and involvement in the life of the church, such as confirmation ministry the incorporation of new members, early childhood and family support programs. The Memorial Committee will be responsible to annually publish a list of projects and purposed to which memorials may be dedicated. They may chose to survey the various church committees and departments, Pastor and staff, in order to determine appropriate gift suggestions for the list. The committee will seek to disperse the monies in the fund annually with the exception of long-term projects that need to accumulate over more that one year. The committee will be responsible for sending thank you notes on behalf of the church to all who donate memorials and to inform the family when memorial funds have been spent. Also, the committee will work with the Pastor in planning appropriate dedications and will ensure that the family is invited. The committee will seek to communicate the use of the funds to the congregation in the annual report. Council Member: Linda P
The Social Ministry Committee shall lead the congregation's efforts to address the social, economic and emotional needs of people both within the congregation and the community at large. This committee shall conduct programs that provide material and spiritual assistance to people who are poor, hungry, or victimized. They shall develop opportunities for the congregational members to offer their time and abilities in social ministry efforts. They shall receive and study social statements of the ELCA, develop means by which they can be discussed in the congregation and develop action plans based on such statements as appropriate. The Stewardship Committee shall continually work to educate the congregation as to the Biblical concepts of stewardship and use those concepts as a foundation for all of our stewardship work. this committee shall invite all members to participate according to their means in the financial support of the congregation and the ELCA, to encourage and facilitate planned giving and to challenge all members to offer their time and talents in the support of the work of the church. The Strategic Planning Committee shall continually assist the church council in reviewing and updating the strategic plan of the congregation. Council Members: Deb L & Margie J
The Worship and Music Committee shall assist the Pastor and church council in seeing that the worship services of God's house are conducted regularly and in accordance with the liturgy of the ELCA. This committee shall provide for seasonal planning teams to coordinate the worship services throughout the year. This committee shall encourage opportunities for lay involvement in worship leadership, including recruitment and education of assisting liturgists, lectors, ushers, greeters and acolytes. It will insure that hymnals and other devotional materials are provided, updated and properly cared for, This committee shall supervise and strive to advance the welfare and effective service of the choirs of the congregation. It shall arrange for the maintenance and repair of the musical instruments of the church. In consultation with the Pastor, organists and choir directors, it shall furnish music supplies appropriate for the use in the worship of a congregation of the ELCA. This committee shall arrange for the care of the paraments, vestments, and worship supplies under the auspices of the Altar Guild which is an adjunct to this committee. This committee shall oversee the worship space and strive to make worship accessible and open to all of God's people. It shall strive to enhance the appearance of the sanctuary and maintain a sense of sacred space through the use of various forms of art and visual settings. The Youth Ministry Committee shall provide ministry to and with young people, so that they may grow in faith and in their understanding of themselves and members of the congregation and to work for the involvement of young people in all aspects of congregational life. this committee shall develop social, educational and service opportunities for adolescents and young adults in the congregation and in cooperation with other committees seek to involve young people in leadership roles in all areas of the congregation's ministry and life.
